care plans

I have talked before about why you should update your WordPress site and mentioned that we do provide Care Plans to help you with this. So I thought today, I would go over what services are included in our plans. We offer three levels with the services available increasing as you go up in cost. Each plan contains the following;

  • Core updates
  • Theme updates
  • Plugin updates
  • Content Updates
  • Change Logging
  • Backups

Care Plans include the Bronze Plan will include monthly backups while the Silver Plan adds weekly backups and basic Search Engine Optimization. The Gold Plan will include daily backups.

Parts of the Care plans

So let’s go over each area so you know what is included in the plans.

Core Updates

This is the main WordPress files. When WordPress is installed, a basic set of files are installed which are required just so WordPress can function. This doesn’t include plugins but just the basic files along with the most current WordPress Theme. From time to time, WordPress will release an update to add functionality to the website or to make a function better and every now and then, an update will be required to fix an issue that was overlooked. By default, WordPress will install these updates automatically but we will monitor the site to ensure that it did update and install them if they didn’t.

Theme Updates

Your theme is what will determine what most of your site will look like. Theme developers will from time to time need to update the files to work with any updates that WordPress may roll out or with newer versions of PHP, the programing language that WordPress uses. Theme files may include functions that are no longer being used in WordPress or PHP causing your theme to no longer work correctly which will cause your site to break or revert to another theme which will cause your site to look incorrectly. If you have paid for a theme, you may need to have a support subscription in order to download new versions of the theme. If we design your site and subscribe to a care plan, then this fee is included.

Plugin Updates

Plugin files are what adds additional functionality to your site. Do you have an event calendar on your site? This is a result of a plugin that has been added. Also, most SEO functions come from a plugin. Like Theme files, these may require a subscription from the company’s support team. We will use tools that will check the site a couple of times a day for updates and install them when we think they are ready. We typically don’t install them that day unless we know there is an immediate reason to do so. An example could be if a plugin has a security issue that needs to be addressed at once. We will install these as soon as we are aware of an update.

Content Updates

Do you want to blog on your site but not for sure how or don’t have the time to? Just provide us with the content and we will publish it on your site. Also, is there some content on the site that needs to be changed? Send us the information and we will make the changes for you. We don’t create the content but we will change it on the site for you. For example, did someone leave the company and you need to remove them from the website? Just send us that information and will remove their name and when you replace them, we will add the new name.

Change Logging

We keep a record of the file updates along with the backups made and will provide you with a report of these changes.

Backups

Depending on the plan level you select, we will perform backups at different times. We can also changs the frequency if needed based on the type of site you have. If you have an e-commerce site, then you would need daily if not hourly backups to ensure that you always have the latest transactions available in case something goes wrong with your site. However, if your site is just a basic site with no updates, then a monthly backup may be all you need. We also schedule these backups to run overnight so that your site performance won’t be impacted while the backup is running.

If there is something else you need for your site in regards to maintenance that we didn’t cover. Let us know and will work with you to see what we can provide. We can provide a free site audit of your current site to see how we can better serve your site. Just fill out the form below and get instructions on how to start the audit.
