Creating Unique Content
Like we mentioned earlier, one thing that makes Google happy with your website is content. But, it’s more than just content, you need unique content. Google has their algorithms set to look for unique content, so if you just copy and paste content from another site, then Google will lower your ranking if they don’t just remove you from being indexed.
So how do you write unique content?
There are several things you can do to write unique content.
- Use your own words to talk about the subject and don’t copy and paste
- Use multiple sources
- Use your own style and structure
- Explain the topic in your own words
What do you say about it?
When you are writing about a topic, do your own research and write your own content. Don’t just copy and paste from someone else’s website. Google’s search bots will look for this when it is indexing your site and if it thinks your content has been copied and pasted from another site, it will lower you in the rankings if not just totally remove your site from being indexed. This can cause your site to not show up when someone searches for a topic you have written about.
Don’t take their word for it.
Or just one site’s word anyway. Always use multiple sources for your research. Get information from several sources and be sure to link back to them when you can. This will build some domain authority and can encourage other sites to link back to your site. This will help build your reputation with Google and can increase your rankings.

Everyone has their own unique style and structure in writing and you need to use that. By using your own style, then you are ensuring that your content is unique. No one else can be you and Google will pick up on your style and index the content and if someone else copies it, then they will get lowered in the index and not you.
Explain it to your mother
This one is kind of a combination between the first thing and the last. Explain the topic in your own words and not the normal jargon. In my basic news writing class, I was thought to act like you are telling your mother the story of what’s going on. My professor had an old style telephone handset that he would pick up and say mom, here is what is going on. Think in those terms when you write your blog post. The easier you can explain it, the easier your readers will understand it and will come back to your site. The more people come back to your site will build domain authority in Google’s eyes. In order words, Google will think that this person knows what they are talking about and will move you up in the rankings.
Using these tips will help you in writing unique content and will help people searching for the topics you write about in Google and in other search engines. Other things that can help is writing headlines that will grab someone’s attention and make them want to come to your site. Also, structure your post so that the content flows in a good order.
Also make sure that you use good images. There are several good free image resources available but also remember that everyone else has access to these sources so use them sparingly. As you use a source of images, you will start to notice other sites that use the same images.
And last but not least, Social Media. Make sure you take any post you write and share the link in your various social media feeds. Create a Facebook page or Twitter account for your business or organization and anytime you write a post, share the link on social media and then share it from your personal account. This will increase the number of links back to your site and can help more people to find your site and follow the links which Google will notice.
Google likes unique content so following these tips can help in increasing your rankings with Google.
